Dream Change Grow
One of the inevitable factors in life is that things will change, whether we want them to or not. We can manage that change and make it take us where we want. Or we can leave it to change. Whilst we can never full control the changes that take place we can be ready for them when they come and nudge them in the direction we want as far as possible.
In my mid-life change I swapped from being in IT and a software director to being a coach and therapist in parallel with a musician. It’s taken a while, and not be easy at times. Along the way I have learnt a lot and I like to think helped a lot of people make a better job of their changes than I did.
Now for the first time I am merging my careers and skill sets with Quentin St.Clair from The Changing Man and Quentin John Burton (QJB), artist, singer and songwriter and putting it altogether to pass on what I have learnt and give some insights and options to those that they might help.
Dream
Over the years I have sampled and practised many ways of setting goals. In the last two years I have adapted a method taught to me by Rosie Bans, mentor songwriter.and musician,
With the surge in popularity of techniques such as mindfulness and meditation most people have some idea of how to access their subconscious. If not one of those then there are myriad other ways into it. The subconscious is where our most primal and fundamental needs and dreams develop. We just need a way to surface then and take conscious control!,
Then Change
The process of change is constant. We form a basic structure early on, mostly in our first six years. Formed from our environment, our DNA and nuture from parents and teachers we put the fundamentals in place. Adolescence, a confusing mix of hormones, feelings and a tsunami of information. By 25 we are adult and hopefully in our building phase.
Then there is the mid-life changes. For everyone at various ages and triggered by a variety of causes. Even after this our brains continue to grow and if can avoid degenerative disease well on into our end of life.
Change Then Grow
The final step in the cycle is to put those dreams and changes into the process of life. In many ways this is the most difficult to define because there isn’t a template and supporting this part of the work needs closer more intimate contact and feedback. Supportive partners, friends and families as well as professional support for specialist areas, accountability and measuring results all form part of this however ultimately it down to use as individuals using the team and support network we have built around us.
